Question of the Day

Do you think the world will be a better or a worse place 100 years from now?

Every so often, I love to ask a question that allows us to share our lives, thoughts and experiences with one another. Some are silly, some deep and some downright embarrassing but they are always a good time.

Question of the day:Do you think the world will be a better or a worse place 100 years from now?

My Answer: Although I have answered this question before, it's always a fun question to talk about and I notice that my answer always seems to change ever so slightly each time.
Personally, I think that the world will remain the same 100 years from now. There's always a lot of talk about the world being better in some ways and worse in others but at the end of the day I feel that each generation needs to learn it's own lessons. Overall I don't think we have a worse society or a much better world than say 100, 1,000 or even 10,000 years ago. Mankind seems to keep making giant leaps forward when it comes to something like technology and talking with people across and ocean but still hasn't found a way to bridge the gap between their neighbor's lawn.

What do you think?
I would love to know.

I love your questions so here goes.

I am thinking that our generations lesson is this... In the very near future "natural resources" will be a serious threat to humanity. One thing to keep in mind; history can and often does repeat itself. Another thing to keep in mind is that everything has a delicate balance. I read someplace that knowledge (technology) is limited and faith/love (interpersonal relationships)is endless. I am not certain if I believe the answer is as black and white concerning technology and relationships they both have abundant value to humanity. I guess, it comes down to what each person places most value to?

I am certain that humanity has always been faced w/crisis situations such as war, poverty, disease, and natural disasters. An educated world can prevent and even control war, poverty, disease, and some natural disasters ex.(climate control). However, can we prevent a population explosion and also create the resources to sub-stain life?

Here's some food for thought... The Chinese government recently controlled their population by allowing for only one child per household. As a result of this method of controlling the population, families began placing value on the male population over the female children. (Keep in mind that this is not a new method of controlling a population). As a result of this forced population control in the Chinese nations the female children where abandoned at birth or killed. Now it is predicted that by 2020 the Chinese population will loose pure ethnicity because there is an overwhelming imbalance of Chinese males verses females. This means ethnic extinction. In the very near future Chinese males are going to be "forced" to integrate with other ethnic groups to sub-stain survival. Personally, I am all for diversity and culture. This is just an example of the effect of (-) natural resources and (-)population control. My point (the BIG picture) is that controlling ANY population to maintain natural resources is a very delicate situation and if not handled carefully the future could be a completely different place.

How will the world deal w/ the decrease in natural resources? How will a lack of natural resources effect technology? How will a lack of natural resources effect relationships? There is still much time to address these issues but will humanity choose to deal with this very real threat to humanity or not?

Good question sunshine. I personally don't think NONE OF US will be "here" 100 years from now, but that's just my own personal opinion. I would hope that by living the lives we had while we existed, we would be in a place of eternal peace and happiness. <3 LL
